The Register has tallied up the votes, and is proud to announce that Zoie Hesse and David Heard are Julys Allen County Area Athletes of the Month.
Zoie Hesse is a force behind the plate on offense and defense. Hesse helped Nelson Quarries roll past Allen County Regional Hospital in the Junior Ponytail championship game. Hesse had a two-run home run in the 5-1 victory.
David Heard is a legend who doesnt let his age slow down his love for the game. Heard currently plays for a 75-and-older slow-pitch softball team. Last month, Heard competed in Illinois for a tournament, and had enough juice in the tank to play three games in one day.
These two athletes are the first non-area high school winners.
