The winners are in! The Register is proud to announce that recent Humboldt graduate Ryan Sellman and Crests very own Ursula Billings are Junes Allen County Area Athletes of the month.
Sellman has been one of SEKs finest golfers. The Humboldt Cub was most recently named 2nd team all-state by the Kansas Golf Coaches Association. At the state golf meet, Sellman came away with a third-place finish overall, shooting a one-over 72. The senior has qualified for the state tournament all four years of high school.
Billings is not only of the top long distance runners in 1A and an amazing runner in 4A cross country, but she also competes on the Iola Seahorses Swim Team. At the Seahorses first meet in Coffeyville, Ursula won all of her individual events. Ursulas relay teams also placed second, with only one week of practice before the meet.
The Register received its highest number of responses for the Allen County Area Athlete of the Month honor yet, with over 550 votes cast before a Thursday midnight deadline.
In the month of July, The Register will feature both athletes, detailing their personal stories and what motivates these successful athletes.
