PLEASANTON — Area schools put the “field” part of track and field to good use Tuesday.
Marmaton Valley, Yates Center and Southern Coffey County all took home gold medals in jumping and throwing events, headlining a strong day at the Pleasanton Invitational.
Marmaton Valley’s Brayden Lawson headlined a strong day in the throwing events, picking up gold in both the javelin and shot put, while narrowly missing out on a hat trick by placing second in the discus — to teammate Dagan Barney. MV’s Mason Ferguson was close behind Barney and Lawson, taking fourth in the discus.
Jaedon Granere runs the 800.
Piper Barney continued her jumping dominance for the Wildcat girls, winning the triple jump and taking second in the long jump. Marmaton Valley’s Todd Stevenson also shined in the jumping events, taking gold in the long jump and silver in the triple jump.
Yates Center’s Jayda Rice was golden in the girls shot
put, while Southern Coffey County’s Emily Ludolph took second in the girls discus as she works her way back from a knee injury.
