Humboldt High’s Lady Cubs dropped a pair of Tri-Valley League matches Tuesday at Eureka.
The Lady Cubs lost 25-15, 25-20 to Cherryvale. Eureka defeated Humboldt 25-12, 25-10.
“We were out of sync and never got anything going against two good teams,” said Stephanie Splechter, Lady Cub head coach.
In the Cherryvale match, Melissa Davidson delivered nine kills and six blocks at the net for the Lady Cubs. Kindahl Young put down seven kills and Amanda Maxton had nine set assists.
Davidson had four kills and six blocks against Eureka. Maxton was credited with five assists.
Humboldt is 8-15 overall and 2-2 in TVL action. The Lady Cubs are in Saturday’s Neodesha High Invitational tournament.
Southern Coffey County High’s Lady Titans were at Olpe in Lyon County League play Tuesday. They lost to Olpe 25-16, 25-15 and to Lebo 23-25, 25-19-25-9.
Keasha Parks had seven set assists for the Lady Titans against Olpe. Sam Jacob put down five kills while Kristin Stephens and Katelyn Rogers each had three kills.
“We played some good ball early in both sets and I believe we were tied at 10 in both of them,” said Korey Lankton, SCCH head coach. “They (Olpe) just had too much firepower for us. They’re the number two team in the state for a reason.”
Against Lebo, too many little mistakes added up to a loss for the Lady Titans.  Lankton said Martyna Hegwald, who was 12 of 12 with five service aces, did a great job off the bench serving and helped make key runs in the first two sets.
Parks had 12 set assists and Brooke Scheele had 10 assists. Rogers pounded down nine kills. Sarah Webb and Jacob had seven kills apiece.
Southern Coffey County is 18-13 overall and 3-4 in LCL play. The Lady Titans play in Saturday’s LCL tournament in Emporia.
Marmaton Valley and Crest were at Northeast-Arma Tuesday. Northeast wrapped up the Three Rivers League title with a 25-16, 25-21 win over Crest and a 25-15, 25-18 win over Marmaton Valley.
The Register did not have a report from Crest, Marmaton Valley or Yates Center, which was at Caney Valley, by today’s deadline.
