ERIE — Windy conditions made it tough on golfers at Monday’s Erie High Invitational.
Caney Valley won the team title with a 345. It was led by first and second medalists Gable LaForge and Tyler Wyant with an 82 and an 83, respectively.
Marmaton Valley was sixth with a 393 and Yates Center finished seventh at 707.
Yates Center’s Jake Morrison claimed the third-medalist slot. Morrison shot an 84.
Blake Francis shot a 100 for Yates Center. Paul Stockebrand hit a 108 and Dylan Bauman had a 112.
“This was the best Jake has placed for any grass green tournament,” said Kevin Barnes, Yates Center golf coach. “Our boys had some putting problems because of only practicing on sand greens. They got better reading the greens as the day wore on.:
Uniontown only had two varsity golfers competing in the 18-hole tournament. Justin Query shot a 94 and Chance Hoener had a 109.
The Register did not receive results for Marmaton Valley.
Yates Center goes to Burlington to play in a tournament today. Uniontown and Marmaton Valley aren’t schedule to play again until April 19 at Oswego.
