Three Rivers League eight-man football champion Crest High’s Lancers had eight players garner league honors in football for the 2010 season. The Lancers were 5-0 in league play and finished 9-2 overall with eight-man district and bi-district titles.
There were 29 area athletes earning postseason honors in football — both eight-man and 11-man — and volleyball from Three Rivers League coaches. The all-league teams were released as soon as all league schools were through with postseason play.
Eight-man football
Nine first-team position slots went to the Lancers. Offensively, sophomore Kyle Hammond was the unanimous selection as running back and kicker for the TRL.
Senior Thomas Dietrich was a unanimous selection to the first team as an offensive lineman. Joining him up front on the first team offense was junior Jayden Bowen at center.
Senior Luke Decker was unanimously selected as an All-TRL defensive lineman and senior Dakota Ramsey earned first-team unanimous distinction as a linebacker. J. Bowen were named all-league defensive lineman while Dietrich was a first-team linebacker and senior Dexter Wiley was a first-team defensive back.
Also named to the All-TRL first-team offense was Marmaton Valley High’s senior Justin Holeman as offensive lineman.
Receiving honorable mention on offense were Crest’s Wiley as receiver and sophomore Jordan Morton as quarterback; and Marmaton Valley’s Cody Knight, a senior, as center and sophomores Daylen Houk and Cole Becker as running backs.
Defensive honorable mention went to Marmaton Valley’s Holeman and sophomore Jared Kale as linemen, Becker as linebacker; and Crest’s Cole Bowen, a junior, as defensive back, and Hammond as linebacker.
Hammond earned honorable mention as punter and a special teams player. Marmaton Valley’s Houk was honorable mention for special teams.
11-man football
Uniontown High’s Eagles had senior Tyler Hall earn All-Three Rivers League 11-Man football first-team honors as a center on offense and as a defensive end. Senior Matt Maloney was named to the 2010 first-team offense as a tackle and junior Seth Sympson earned first-team honors as a tight end.
Senior Ty Clayton and junior Max Labbe were named to the first-team defense as linebackers.
Honorable mention offensively went to Labbe as a guard, junior Jordan Woods as running back and junior Zach Travis as quarterback.
Volleyball
Uniontown High’s Eagles finished second in the Three Rivers League and fell one win shy of qualifying for the Kansas Class 3A State Volleyball Tournament. They placed two on the 2010 All-Three Rivers League Volleyball first team.
Juniors Jacy Ermel and Taylor Shook of Uniontown were joined by senior Maggie Meiwes of Marmaton Valley High. Marmaton Valley’s Cheyanne Miller, a senior, earned honorable mention.
Crest High senior Ashley Catt was awarded All-TRL second-team honors. Also getting second-team honors was Uniontown senior Jessie Camac.
