After sweeping Cowley at home last weekend, the Allen Red Devils split on the road vs Kansas City Kansas Community College on Tuesday with the women winning their third in a row, 3-2, and the men falling 3-1.

The Lady Devils are 7-6 this season and 4-4 in conference play while the men are 3-8-1 overall and 1-5-1 in conference.

The Lady Devils struggled to find their rhythm early in the game. With just under seven minutes left in the first half, sophomore Abbey Hand played a ball in behind the KCK back line that sophomore Leigh-Anne Bartlett met just before the goalkeeper to put it in the back of the net and give the Lady Devils the 1-0 lead at the half.

KCK struck first in the second half seven minutes in to tie the game 1-1.

The Red Devils then battled back to take the lead with 21 minutes to go when Bartlett was played through by freshman Hailey Gonzalez as she calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner to give Allen the one-goal lead.

But KCK came back just five minutes later to tie it up at 2-2.

Allen had the run of play in the second half and continued to get chances on goal.

Then, with under three minutes remaining, Gonzalez combined nicely with fellow freshman Hailey Jones to put the game-winning goal over the head of the KCK goalkeeper.

Freshman Morgan Cossairt played the full 90 in goal again, making five saves.

THE ACC men had four penalty shot opportunities but capitalized on none in their 3-1 loss.

The Blue Devils were up by two going into halftime. Allen cut it to one with 13 minutes into the second half.  KCK knocked in the clincher with a couple of minutes left in the game.

Both teams will return home on Saturday to take on Coffeyville to start a five-game home stand to close out the season for the men while the women have three of their last four at home.  The Lady Devils will play at 2 p.m. while the men will play at 4 p.m.
