MUSKOGEE, Okla. — Allen Community College didn’t let the sting of a disappointing loss stick around for long.
Two days after a heartbreaking five-set defeat on the road at Kansas City, Kan., Allen returned to the volleyball court Friday against Bacone University’s junior varsity.
The Red Devils took advantage of a number of Bacone errors to roll to a 25-14, 25-8, 25-15 victory.
The win lifts ACC’s record to 12-8 on the season. The Red Devils are in Fort Scott tonight at 6:30 for their next match.
“After coming off a difficult loss, we needed to find the ability to finish a match,” Allen head coach Jessica Peters said. “We were able to experience major runs against Bacone, allowing us to defeat them by significant spreads.”
The Red Devils didn’t have any statistical standouts, Peters noted, because of Bacone’s errors.
“But we had a pretty even spread on the front row with four offensive options fairly comparable and 10 service aces on the night.”
Danielle Goodman led the way with nine kills, while Sidney Keith, Adriee Munoz and Lizzy Huey added seven kills apiece. Munoz and Ashlyn Myers had 17 and 10 set assists, respectively. Sarah Charbonneau led the way with 18 digs; Keith had 11, one solo block. Andonae Madgziarz had two block assists. Halley Scott had six service aces, Munoz two and Huey and Jessi Sennett with one apiece.
Following tonight’s action, the Red Devils will be at Northeastern Oklahoma in Miami on Wednesday and at a tournament in Coffeyville Friday and Saturday.
