The Red Devil softball team went 2-4 in its weekend games in the Cowtown Classic in Fort Worth, Texas.
On Saturday, Allen topped Des Moines Area Community College 6-3.
Mallory Roush and Ashley Womack accounted for all the Red Devil runs-batted-in. Roush knocked in three runs on 2-of-3 hitting.
Red Devil star first baseman Womack had a pair of RBIs on a home run to go with two runs scored.
Raegan Beckley steadied the Red Devils on the mound with a complete game. In her seven innings of work, she surrendered only two earned-runs.
She avoided any big innings by scattering the nine hits and four walks she gave up. The freshman also struck out three batters.
The other Allen win came over El Paso Community College 9-1 on Friday.
Red Devil ace Baileigh Rager threw a complete game for the victory. She allowed only three hits and one run given up came on a first inning homer by El Paso’s Valeria Luna.
Rager helped herself at the plate as well. She went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two runs-batted-in.
She wasn’t the only one with a big day. Sarah Eckart and Madison McGinness also each recorded three hits in the blow-out victory.
Of the Red Devils’ four losses, two came to North Central Texas Community College, including a no-hitter thrown by Bailey Perkins in North Central Texas’ 10-1 win. The other game was also a 10-1 loss to North Central Texas.
The other two losses were a 10-2 game to Seminole State College and a 4-0 decision to Vernon College.
The Red Devils return home on Tuesday when they square off with Missouri Valley College’s junior varsity.
