FORT SCOTT — Allen Community College’s struggles continued Monday with a pair of road losses at Fort Scott.

The Red Devils dropped to 5-22 on the season with the 10-2 and 11-0 defeats as they gear up for a doubleheader Thursday at Highland.

The opener started well enough against the Greyhounds.

Allen’s Mikayla Long drove in Aubrey Willis with a first-inning single, and the Red Devils had two runners on base with just one out before the threat ended without further damage.

Fort Scott promptly took a 2-1  lead on a pair of walks, two singles and an error, then took control with four more runs in the bottom of the second.

The lead swelled to 7-1 before Kinsey Stuewe scored on Aubrey Willis’s single with two outs in the top of the fourth, but Allen was kept from an even bigger inning when Trista Argabright was gunned down at the plate in an attempt to score on Makayla Howard’s single.

The Red Devils had seven hits in the contest, all singles. Willis had two hits, while Kobe McDonald, Long, Argabright, Stuewe and Howard all had a hit.

The Red Devils stranded seven baserunners.

Madelynn Collins took the loss, surrendering four hits in two innings. Skyler Jackson allowed five hits in two innings of relief with a strikeout.

KAYLEE CORNELL took the mound for ACC in Game 2 and retired the first six Greyhound batters she faced.

That ended when the Greyhounds erupted for five in the third and six in the fourth.

Meanwhile, Allen’s offense was limited to a pair of Bella Gravatt singles and a hit by Reanna Blinzler.

Carnell wound up giving up six hits with a pair of strikeouts. Andrea Wilson came on in relief and gave up three hits with a strikeout.
