The Allen Community College softball, cross country and track teams will offer instruction for fledgling athletes.

The Red Devil softball team is hosting a pitching and hitting clinic at the ACC Red Barn Saturday morning.

The hitting session runs from 8 to 10 a.m., the pitching from 10:30 to noon.

Red Devil head coach Jamie Amerine, assistant coach Nicole Nicholas and Allen softball players have designed the clinic for hitters ages 8-18 and for pitchers of all ages.

Cost is $25 per player for a single session, or $40 to attend both. Campers will receive a free ticket to the Red Devil basketball games that afternoon against Cowley.

For more information, contact Amerine at 365-5116, extension 204, or via email at amerine@allencc.edu. Campers are asked to bring a bat, helmet and batting gloves, if possible. Fees can be paid in advance or at the door.

VINCE DEGRADO is offering instruction for serious or novice runners, or for anybody with injury-related issues related to running, jogging or walking.

DeGrado’s program offers a 10-point assessment that tests feet, Achilles, hips, hamstrings, posture, knee, muscles and body core; a DVD featuring proper running mechanics, along with notes for improvement; and tissue mobility instruction.

“It’s not just for runners,” DeGrado said. “If you have a child in a sport that requires agility, be it running, balance, etc., then this is for you.”

Registration fees are $25. For more information, contact DeGrado at 365-5116, extension 215. Unlike the softball clinic, DeGrado will schedule his instruction on an individual basis.
