HUMBOLDT — The only thing hotter than the weather right now is John Allen.
For the third week in a row, the 2012 points champion in USRA Modifieds at Humboldt Speedway showed the rest of the field the quick way around the Humboldt high banks, once again winning Friday’s McCarthy Auto Group Modified A feature.
Ryan McAninch, 2013 midseason points champion, kept both feet flat on the floor, but again was runner up.
Travis Smith made a strong showing to finish third, Paden Phillips was fourth, and Tim Setzer fifth.
Randy Zimmerman won the Ray’s Metal Depot B-Mod feature.
Second was Jeremy Chambers, with Chase Austin third, Blake Davis fourth and Jimmie Davis fifth.
Tyler James edged Jeremy Wilson and David Matlock for a thrilling Factory Stock feature win, as the racers were virtually three-wide at the checkered flag. Daryl Drake finished fourth. Patrick Kay was fifth.
Pure Stock drivers are eagerly awaiting this week’s $500 blowout.
Some preparatory tuning was obvious as Derrek Wilson came from the middle of the pack to record yet another Whitworth Construction feature win.
