KANSAS CITY — The Allen men’s basketball team’s first experience on a conference foe’s court was a successful one on Tuesday after the Red Devils blew past Kansas City Kansas Community College with an 84-64 win.

The win is the second this season for the 5-1 Red Devils versus a conference foe even though Jayhawk Conference play has not yet begun. The game was also the team’s first true road win after taking down Northern Oklahoma College-Enid on a neutral court last weekend.

The Red Devils trailed only long enough in the game that if you were to blink, you’d have probably missed it. Allen got behind 2-0 to start the game but a three from sophomore Darius Love pushed the Red Devils ahead, where they remained until the final buzzer.

KCK kept Allen within arm’s reach for the majority of the first half. The Red Devils’ lead got as big as nine after freshman Trez Hankins nailed a wide open three to close the period.

A lob play to Love to start things in the second half gave the Red Devils the momentum to run away with the game, pushing their lead to as much as 26.

The Blue Devils tried to get back in it but could only get back to within 20 points by the final buzzer.

The Red Devils shot a more-than-steady 57.1 percent throughout the game while holding KCK to 44.2 percent.

Interesting enough, according to the stat sheet, the Red Devils were called for three technical fouls throughout the course of the game.

All five Red Devil starters were offensive forces led by Love who had 23 points on 8-11 shooting including going 4-5 from beyond the arc to go along with a team-high seven rebounds.

Sophomore Perry Carroll had 17 points and seven assists. Freshman Malik Hardmon had 14 points and Jamaal Clifton and Nathan Williams each scored 10. Williams also had six boards.

The bench did not provide much production aside from a four-point, four-rebound effort from freshman CJ Parks.

The Red Devils head into Missouri with matchups against State Fair and Moberly Community College in Sedalia this weekend before returning home next week to host Kansas City Kansas in a rematch before the start of conference play.
