Allen County Community College’s Nicole Rockhold (32) drives to the basket in Saturday’s 100-94 double overtime loss to Independence at home.

Don’t tell Allen County Community College’s Red Devil women there’s nothing to play for. The Red Devils already knew they were last in the Jayhawk Eastern Division and would be playing on the road in the first-round of the playoffs this week.
They gave Independence Community College’s Lady Pirates all they wanted and some. Independence finally got the win — 100-94 in double overtime — here Saturday.
“Our kids played extremely, extremely hard tonight. It was a good game to finish up the season with,” said Andy Hamilton, ACCC head coach.
“We’ve been fortunate to have a great sophomore like Jennifer House on the team. She has been a tremendous leader on and off the court for our younger players.”
Allen County was down 38-33 at halftime and battled back from eight points down in the second half. The Red Devils trailed 72-68 with 2:37 left in the game.

House hit a free throw then had a basket to put ACCC up 86-85 with 3:19 left in the second overtime. Independence scored five straight points to gain the lead for good.
Independence outscored Allen County 17-11 in the last five minute period.
