HUMBOLDT — The races are on at Humboldt Speedway.
After two “big” outside shows starting the 2012 racing season at Humboldt Speedway, local drivers got down to business last Friday night. It was the first full night of points racing at the track.
John Allen captured the first official USRA modified feature of the season. Justin Folk, the defending points champion in the division, and Allen battled for the lead in the race but Allen got the win.
Justin Folk finished second followed by Jess Folk Jr. in third. Scott Daniels and Brian Bolin rounded out the top five finishers.
Jeremy Willard powered to another pure stock feature victory. Levi Phillips finished second followed by Derek Michael. Jarrid Johnson ran fourth and Stetson Deets finished fifth.
In factory stock action, Ethan Lamons took the checkered flag in the 15-car field for the first feature win of the season. Scott Stuart led early but came in second after experiencing some car trouble.
Derek Wilson turned in a strong third-place finish in the factory feature. Tim Phillips drove his car from the back of the pack to take fourth and Carl Lewis crossed in fifth place.
Veteran driver Jack Simmons captured the USRA B-Bod feature race victory as he drives for Ray Maloney. Jeremy Chambers ran second followed by Trevor Hunt, Riley Whitworth and Jimmie Davis.
The racing continues this Friday. Gates open at 6 p.m. and races begin at 8 p.m.
