Iola Mustangs senior Cal Leonard, junior Landon Carson, and senior Calvin Delich all received All-State honors from Sports in Kansas.
Leonard was named to the All-State second team, and led the Mustangs with 16 points per game for the second straight season, along with picking up three rebounds and two assists per contest.
In his first season in the starting five, Carson averaged 13.9 ppg, which was good enough for honorable mention recognition. Carson was also active this season on the defensive end for the Mustangs, picking up two steals per game.
Delich did a little bit of everything on the floor for the Mustangs, averaging 6.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.6 assists, which was good enough for honorable mention honors.
Iola’s trio were not the only local talent to receive All-State recognition. Humboldt’s Conor Haviland was selected to the 3A All-State second team. Haviland averaged a near double-double, averaging 20 points and 7.2 rebounds per game.
For the Lady Cubs, Jada Dangerfield received honorable mention recognition. Yates Center’s Madelynn Collins was selected to the 2A All-State team as an honorable mention.
Two Crest Lady Lancers, Aubree Holloran and Rylee Beckmon, were selected as honorable-mention members of the 1A state team. Holloran and Beckmon were joined by Marmaton Valley’s Bailey Griffith, who also received an All-State honorable mention despite missing the season’s closing stages due to injury.
