Allen Community College basketball teams were back at it Monday night after Saturday’s games.

The Red Devils were in Coffeyville to face the Red Ravens.

Neither the men or women were able to secure a win. The men lost 84-72; the women, 75-54.

Here is how both teams fared:

ACC MEN

Injuries have continued to plague the ACC men. Starting point guard Shaikim Jenks missed Monday’s contest with an injury, and was replaced by Cedric Rollerson. Also on the court were Tyus Jeffries, Jalen Sasser, Joel Boyce, and Brandon Gray while usual starter Malik Hardmon started off the bench.

ACC connected on 44% of its first-half attempts while the Red Ravens fired an efficient 51%, good enough for a 38-32 halftime lead.

The Red Devils closed the gap in the second half, and received big performances from Boyce and Hardmon. Boyce led all scorers with 24 points on 9 of 16 shooting, and earned a double-double by collecting a team-high 10 rebounds. Off the bench, Hardmon hit 50% of his attempts and knocked down 8 of 14 from the line to finish with 20 points.

Trez Hankins was in rhythm from beyond the arc, shooting 5 of 9 from 3-point land and finishing with 15 points off the bench. The only issue for ACC is that outside of this trio, its next highest scorer was Rollerson with 5 points.

The Red Devils mustered the lead only once through the contest while Coffeyville led by as many as 16 points. The loss moves ACC to 9-7 in Conference play

ACC WOMEN

The Red Ravens opened with an 11-0 run, and outpaced the Lady Devils 22-8 in the first quarter. That deficit proved too daunting for the ACC women to mount.

After the hot-shooting first period, ACC fought back in the second, matching each Coffeyville basket with one of its own. But the Lady Devils failed to gain ground as both teams scored 16 points in the period. ACC shot a measly 26% in the first half, getting only seven field goals to fall through the rim.

The Lady Devils suffered mighty on the glass, collecting 25 rebounds versus Coffeyville’s 52 boards. McKenzie Murrel-Patton collected 18 of those 52 for the Red Ravens.

Ariel Walker led the Lady Devils with 13 points on 4 of 10 from the field. Also finishing in double figures was Alejandra Handie scoring 10.
