Allen County Community College had varying results on the road the past few days.

On Saturday, the Red Devil volleyball team lost to Ottawa University’s junior varsity 17-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-17. Then Monday, they went to Miami, Okla., to claim a 25-23, 25-16, 25-19 win over Northeastern Oklahoma.

“We had a major change in an area of the game that we have control over — serves,” said Jessica Peters, ACCC head coach. “We only gave two points to NEO on missed serves. That number is greatly decreased compared to recent matches.”

Allen County is 14-18 overall. The Red Devils take a 3-5 mark into tonight’s Jayhawk Conference match at Cowley County Community College.

Against NEO, Makhala Giardina led the net attack with 13 kills followed by Alli Jenicke with nine kills, Hayley Mertens with seven  kills and two solo blocks. Jordyne Seichepine had four kills, one solo block and five assisted blocks. Randi Billings had one solo block and four assisted blocks.

Jacqui Ortiz put up 12 set assists and Alisha Keith had 11 assists. Nicole Reed and Jenicke each had 16 digs.

Ortiz put up 34 set assists, had 18 digs and one ace serve for ACCC in the Ottawa match. Mertens had 18 kills, Jenicke had 13 kills and Seichepine had 10 kills.

Jenicke had 24 digs, Reed had 12 digs and Sabrina Stanley had 10 digs. Giardina had a solo block and five kills.
