Taking that break between the second and third sets of a match is not working for Allen County Community College’s Red Devils. At home Monday, the Red Devils smoked Butler Community College’s Grizzlies 25-11, 25-19 in the opening two sets.
The teams took the break. Butler roared back to win three straight and take the match 11-25, 19-25, 25-22, 25-22, 15-13.
“Coming back out after the match break, we struggled to push. We could compete but the level we started at was having a reverse effect,” said Jessica Peters, ACCC head coach.
The Red Devils slipped to 2-3 in Jayhawk Eastern Division play. They are 9-14 overall headed to Independence Wednesday.
“This team continues to show up and work hard. We have what it takes to be successful. We just need to find a way to finish matches,” Peters said.
