HIGHLAND — It had been nearly 18 months since Allen Community College’s women had been on the soccer field.

The Red Devils made sure the wait was worth it Wednesday.

Allen scored early and often to thump host Highland Community College, 8-0.

The first goal came early from Dorothy Usher a shot from outside the 18 yard box and she was able to put another one away 2 minutes after with a shot outside the 6 yard box.

Later in the first half Danielle Jeffcoat  hit one in the right bottom left corner.

In  the start of the second half Mia Evans assisted Maci Beachler from a cross and a 1 touch finish, then after Jess Jones assisted Usher on a corner kick which ended up going in the back of the net.

Minutes later on a well-executed set piece Yasmin Evans scored.

Then later in the second half Mirla Chavarria scored 2 goals coming within the 6 yard box.

Allen had eight corner kicks, while Highland had none.

Phoenix Michaelis, Allen scorekeeper, successfully saved both of Highland’s shots on goal.

The Red Devils are back in action Saturday for their home-opener against Central Community College at 2 p.m.
