ACC volleyball splits matches in Iowa tournament

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa — Allen Community College volleyball went 2-2 in a tournament this weekend.
On Friday, Allen won both matches. The Red Devils beat Northern Iowa Area Community College in three sets (25-16, 25-20, 25-16) to start off the tournament. Their next match against Southwestern Community College went four sets. Allen lost the first set, 25-21, then won the next three, 25-23, 25-20 and 25-13.
Allen lost both matches on Saturday.
Host Marshalltown beat the Red Devils in four sets. Allen won the first set, 25-23, then lost next three, 25-17, 25-15 and 25-13. Lincoln Land swept ACC in three sets, 25-21, 25-19 and 25-14.

ALLEN beat Friends University’s junior varsity Monday in Wichita. It was the first road sweep of the season for the Red Devils, winning 25-18, 25-16 and 25-14.
Coach Jessica Peters said the first set was an example of solid defense by keeping balls alive for Allen. However, the offense was hit or miss.
Peters said Sarah Webb was an offensive force for the Red Devils. She tied for team the lead with 12 kills with Andonae Magdziarz. Webb also hit .458 at the net. Raquel West dished out 19 assists, while Madi Maguire followed with 15. Jessica Pollit had three blocks.
The team hit an impressive .265.
Allen hosts Kansas City Kansas Community College at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
