The men’s and women’s Allen Community College soccer teams played in Chanute Saturday against Neosho County Community College.

Neither side was able to find the winning formula. The men lost 5-1, and the women gave up an early lead to lose 2-1.

It was a rough day for head coach Doug Desmarteau. The men allowed two early penalties in the 2nd and 5th minutes, to start in an early 2-0 hole. Neosho added to its lead in the 12th minute off a perfectly executed set piece. The Red Devils got themselves back in the game when Roshod Nembhard set up Jordan Mase to bring ACC within two.

The Red Devils started to pressure Neosho when they were on the ball, but were unable to find a flow as Neosho added two more goals before halftime making the score 5-1. ACC came out with a more attack-minded attitude in the second half, but were not clinical in front of goal. Ajay Murray and Zakk Wilce both featured in front of goal, and had two saves each.

The Lady Devils, meanwhile, delivered the first punch courtesy of a goal from Lexi White with two minutes left in the first half. Neosho was able to find an equalizer in the second half to make the score 1-1, and found the winning goal in the 70th minute. The loss means the Lady Devils remain winless at 0-8 on the season.

Both the men and women will be without a midweek game, which gives them  time to prepare for a match against Kansas City Kansas Community College on Saturday.
