COLUMBUS, Neb. — Allen Community College’s defense continues to impress.
Spearheaded by goalkeeper Ajay Murray, the Red Devils pitched another shutout Wednesday over Central Community College.
Payge Sinclair’s goal in the eighth minute, and Jordan Mase’s shot midway through the second half were all ACC needed to win, 2-0.
The win lifts Allen to 6-1 on the season, with all six wins coming via shutout.
Murray extended his shutout streak to more than 400 minutes.
The game was evenly matched, with both teams getting chances to score.
Sinclair took a long ball from Andre Ireland, sending the ball on the far side of the net for the 1-0 advantage.
Allen controlled possession after intermission, and looked to build on its lead, but a goal was wiped away because of a foul.
That changed when Tiago Troyano broke free down the sideline, sending a pass across the box to Mase, who tapped it in for the insurance goal.
The defense took it from there to shut down the Raiders the rest of the way.
Allen is back in action today at Pratt.
