The Allen County mens soccer team traveled to Minnesota over the weekend to play two games. The Red Devils lost the first versus Anoka-Ramsey Community College before tying with NCAA Division III Macalester College.
Allen faced Anoka-Ramsey on Friday and fell 2-1 in double overtime with three minutes left to play in the game.
Wilmer Canales put the Red Devils up 1-0 15 minutes into the game on an assist from Jose Trejo.
With about four minutes left in the half, the Rams tied it up at one.
After a scoreless second half, the Red Devils played an aggressive first overtime but failed to score. In the second overtime, Allen had another great opportunity to win the game but the shot sailed over the goal.
With three minutes left to play, an Anoka-Ramsey player broke free and scored.
Zakk Wice was keeper for the Red Devils for the entire game and made seven saves.
Allen County took on Macalester College on Saturday and tied 1-1.
The Scots scored first with a corner kick in the first minute of the game. After that, the first half was quiet. The Red Devils hit a couple of shots off of the crossbar and went into halftime with 10 shots with seven on goal.
Allen took command in the second half and in the 75th minute, Gilberto Yanez scored from the penalty kick spot to tie it up.
At days end, the Red Devils outshot Macalester 22 to 15 but couldnt get that winning goal to go.
Xavier Villa played keeper in game two and walked away with eight saves.
Allen County will travel to play Hesston College on Wednesday.
