The Allen Community College basketball program played the first leg of its brief two-game road trip on Wednesday night when it faced off against Coffeyville Community College.
Coach Todd Buchanan’s Lady Red Devils lost, 71-53. It was Allen’s second straight defeat and 11th in its last 12 games.
Heading into Wednesday’s matchup, the Lady Red Devils ranked 13th out of 15 teams in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference in terms of points per game with 61.8. Allen’s 53-point performance against Coffeyville certainly didn’t help its cause.
Coach Andy Shaw’s Red Devils also lost, 95-85. It was Allen’s third in its last four contests.
At 10-8 overall, the Red Devils are inching closer to a .500 mark on the season after beginning the year 8-2.
Allen’s struggles have come in conference play where Shaw’s team is now just 2-6 on the year.
The Red Devils are currently in second-to-last place in their conference, ranking only above Cloud Community College.
