Allen Community College men’s and women’s basketball closed out its regular season with a rivalry matchup at Neosho County. At home, ACC softball dueled it out with Independence CC on the diamond.
Here is how the Red Devils performed:
ACC MEN
The Red Devils earned a season sweep over Neosho County with a 93-92 win over the Panthers on Saturday. It came down to the wire with 6.8 seconds left, and the game tied at 92-92. After receiving an inbound pass, Shaikim Jenks went full throttle down the sideline, faking a handoff to Trez Hankins, and after he turned the corner to the rim, was fouled with 1.8 seconds remaining. Jenks missed the first, but converted the second to lift ACC to victory.
Malik Hardmon had a monster game for the Red Devils, scoring 32 points on 16 attempts to lead the Red Devils. Hankins converted 6 of 11 from beyond the arc, finishing with 18 points. Cedric Rollerson was the spark off the bench, scoring 25 points with 10 coming via the charity stripe.
With the win, ACC finishes the regular season with a 16-14 record. The Red Devils will travel to Hutchinson on Wednesday for the first round of the Region VI tournament,
ACC WOMEN
It was a cold shooting night for the Lady Devils, who shot 28% from the field in a 105-72 loss to Neosho County on Saturday. ACC was outscored 61-27 in the first half. The Panthers converted 16 of 34 from beyond the arc, while ACC mustered a measly 4 of 34.
Alejandra Handie finished as the Lady Devils leading scorer with 16 points on 4 of 10 from the field. In her final game in the red and black, Ariel Walker finished with 15 points. No other Lady Devils finished in double figures.
The Lady Devils end the season with a three-game slide to finish 8-21, and 3-17 in conference play.
ACC SOFTBALL
The Devils captured the home sweep over the Pirates with 12-1 and 10-2 victories on Saturday. The two wins move ACC to 3-3 on the season.
In the first game, Brooklyn Floyd collected four RBIs coming on doubles in the first and fourth inning. Also posting a big game behind the plate was Riley Zook with three RBIs. On the mound, Floyd pitched the full five inning affair, finishing with four strikeouts while allowing four hits.
Ashytyn Jurging and Macie Cervantes led the Lady Devils with two RBIs a piece in game 2. Jurging also had it going on the mound, striking out and allowing two runs on two hits in a complete five-inning game.
ACC will be back at home on Tuesday for a doubleheader with Northern Oklahoma-College Tonkawa. First pitch for game 1 will be at 1 p.m.
