Sharon Ann (Hesser) Vaughan, 64, Horton, passed away suddenly Monday, March 3, 2014, at Stormont Vail Hospital.
She was born Sept. 15, 1949, in Brighton, Colo., to Fred and Blanche (Easter) Hesser. She graduated from Council Grove High School in 1967.
Sharon married John Vaughan on Feb. 22, 1969, in Denver, Colo. They later moved to Kansas. John worked at IBP for some time before becoming a minister. Sharon was actively involved in all church activities. After John’s death in 2008, she moved to Council Grove. She moved to Iola and worked at Windsor Place as the activity director. In 2011, she moved to Horton to be closer to her family.
She was a member of Council Grove/Dunlap United Methodist Church and UMW. She was the founder of Care and Share in 1980. She was also a hair stylist, a home interior consultant, and a Hospice volunteer for NEK Hospice for three years.
Sharon truly loved being a minister’s wife and doing God’s work. She also enjoyed bird watching and playing slot machines. She loved her dog “Lady Jasmine.” She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband John; granddaughter Hailey Vaughan; and seven brothers, Earl, Lee, Gene, Fred Jr., Danny, Ross and Ray Hesser.
Sharon is survived by her sons, John Vaughan and wife Danielle, Horton, and Ryan Vaughan and wife Becky, Centralia; grandchildren, Jennifer, Michael, Tatum and Rayden; sisters, Shirley Blosser, Council Grove, and Charlotte Hoffman, Commerce City, Colo.; and nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
A celebration of Sharon’s life will be at 11 a.m., Monday, at Council Grove, Dunlap United Methodist Church. A private family inurnment will be held later.
