In what is hoped was a backhanded compliment, Rep. Peggy Mast, R-Empor-ia, last week lauded the works of Adolf Hitler, mastermind of the slaughter of 6 million men, women and children.
“His words are profound!” Mast posted on Facebook.
Mast was referring to a video of Hitler used by anti-abortion advocate Gianna Jessen in her testimony before Congress and how Hitler’s propaganda machine was effective in turning neighbor against neighbor in the name of ethnic cleansing.
In her testimony, Jessen uses a video where Hitler says that the most effective means of propaganda is when slogans are kept simple and used in a repetitive manner. “Their intelligence is very small,” Hitler said of the German citizenry.
In her Facebook post, Mast said, “Great quote from Hitler in the video. … Let’s start using discernment,” referring to the crusade against Planned Parenthood.
When pressed to explain her flattering remarks of Hitler, Rep. Mast wrote that Planned Parenthood, the organization that offers health services, including abortion at some clinics, takes a page out of Hitler’s textbook in its efforts to disguise abortion as one of its services.
For the record, Planned Parenthood is very open to the many services it provides. Its biggest role is to provide contraception, followed by testing for sexually transmitted diseases and offering vaccines against STDs. Abortions comprise about 3 percent of Planned Parenthood’s overall services. It can be argued that if contraceptive measures were more widely available, the number of abortions would drop even more from their high in 1981.

AS FOR EXTOLLING Hitler as a marketing genius, that’s sick.
Hitler was the devil incarnate, convincing people Jews were a danger to Aryan society and that their extinction was necessary.
That Rep. Mast felt comfortable in extolling that crusade as a sign of marketing genius is beyond sick. And to say Planned Parenthood’s message is on track with Hitler’s is truly atrocious.
