As a young boy, all of 14, I lost my mother on the second Sunday of May, Mother’s Day, in 1972.
On that afternoon I had told my mother how much I loved her, just moments before she had to go. Mother taught me respect and to mind and most important how to be kind.
Now as I live my life each day why would I throw any of that away.
It’s not just the second Sunday of May that I think of Mother. I think of her every day.
Many think Mother’s Day must be my sad day, but I look at it a different way for my Mother helps mark that special day.
Some will lose their mothers before next year.
“Happy Mother’s Day” is what they want to hear.
Please respect all mothers this year.
Thank you Iola Register for letting us share our story and to all others and mothers we loved so dear.
In memory of Juanita Christine Silcox, my mother.
Brent Silcox,
