This letter has to do with a few things that have been on my mind lately.
In regard to the rail trail extending to Riverside Park: that is a joke.
For safety sake, a stop light will have to be placed for walkers to get across Highway 54. Truckers heading west, just after stopping at the State Street light, won’t want to just get started up again, then have to stop if someone is in the lane.
While on the subject of the rail trail, are people that walk the trail paying at the stations? If so, how much have we collected?
It seems like every time that someone thinks something is needed, (the answer is) let’s get a grant. Who do we think is paying for these grants?
Taxes.
We have a nice square in our town. I’m opposed to planting trees and building out spots in front of the stores. Who’s going to water and tend to the trees? If there are benches for people to sit and rest, who’s going to keep them clean from bird droppings? Again, I think our square is very nice just the way it is.
This may cause some hard feelings, but that’s the reason we have the forum and these are my feelings.
