Letters to the editor (5/17/12)

Dear editor,

We have never written a letter to the forum until now. We have attended the city council meeting and really learned a lot about city policies. These council people give a lot of themselves for this job in time. They spend more time at this job than the two Monday nights a month meetings.

We read about the recall of Kendall Callahan and Ken Rowe, how sad. We all know that this recall is mostly the results of the firing of city employees. The emotions of anger can lead to statements and wanting to get even. Again how sad. We do not live in the wards of Kendall and Ken, but if we did we would want facts from these men before we vote and not some person looking for revenge. Call them, e-mail, or talk to them face to face, get the facts. Find out their side of the story. Remember every story has two sides. Before you vote get the facts, these two men were there.

No one is going to please everyone. We fear that anger has taken over quality thinking. A lot of rumors are floating around, maybe we should all cool off and wait for the former employees and city have their day in court.

Jim and Martha Heffernon,

Iola, Kan.

Dear Editor,

I agree with Larry Richards’ remarks in Tuesday’s Letter to the Editor. I also voted for a nine-member council.

Marilyn Davis,

Iola, Kan.
