Dear editor:
Put those political flyers to good use.
1. Cut them in half and place loosely in a paper sack. Twist the top and tie with a string. These are great for starting campfires or fireplaces. All that hot air should make them really burn like wildfire.
2. Use them to potty train your pet. Since I have never heard of anyone trying to potty train a bull, just any No. 2 will do. It’s the thought that counts!
I figure it would be an even trade.

Dear editor,
I wish every voter in the 9th District of Kansas could have heard Kent Thompson as he spoke in the Chanute Chamber of Commerce sponsored forum Tuesday evening. Kent’s answers were based on 12 years of experience in county government and this past year as our representative from the 9th District in the Kansas Legislature.
His answers to the tough questions facing the future of our state and local government are based on countless hours of reading, research, talking to experts on both sides of every issue, and his thoughtful weighing of information. His ultimate decision when voting is based on what is best for the majority of the constituents of our district.
He is very intelligent, well-read, informed, thoughtful, dedicated and has no responsibility to any special interest. His desire and efforts are dedicated to the well-being of all of the citizens of our district.
His grasp of the issues and his dedication to vote in the interest of the majority of the people in the 9th District makes me confident that he is the person who receives my trust and my vote Aug. 5.  Please join me in supporting Kent Thompson for 9th District representative.
Mary Ann Arnott,

Dear editor:
Are you aware of anything that stimulates an organization more than NEW personnel? Our state and federal government needs some NEW people in our government offices with the mind of compromise. We believe Chad VanHouden is one of those individuals. We have known Chad since childhood, and the foundation of his character and family values. He is a determined young man who has shown personal growth in business, fatherhood and spirituality against some incredible odds.
Chad’s values are committed to education and schools as his No. 1 priority along with protection of teacher’s due process. He wants to put the reins on government growth and duplication of services along with “NO” tax increases. Chad’s moral upbringing stands for life and pro-life as well as protecting and advancing the needs of disabled citizens.
The odds may be against Chad in this election, but don’t count him out. May we expect your endorsement on Aug. 5, 2014. He’s got ours!
Randy and Lana Lemasters
Chanute, Kan.
