To The Editor
Five is enough for the council, if you can get it: and that’s the rub. Getting five was the intent of working for the eight member council some years back. This sounds like a backwards way of arriving at an end, and it is, but that is the way it works with councils and commissions. They don’t always show up — and we get the results of a quorum.
With this truth in mind those of us that worked to achieve an eight member council with a five member quorum decided this was the way to go; that’s what we worked for; and we believe it has worked well.
Let’s not mess with that and wind up with a system where three member quorums decide our future.
Ray Shannon,
Iola, Kan.
