To the editor,
I am writing in regards to Bob Johnson’s article in the weekend edition (Jan. 10 — Solutions of murders may be unlikely now).
I am the only living sibling of Sally Hutton, and I’ve always hoped the truth would come to light before I depart this world. As well as Ms. Cantrell, I’d forgotten about Mr. White’s death. But to have three unsolved murders in such a small town is very upsetting.
My family is getting smaller as the years go by. But the memories of our losing Sally are still with us. The KBI no longer gets in touch, and doesn’t return my calls.
I guess I still hold out a little hope, that the truth will come from someone’s guilty conscience, someone asking forgiveness for what they’ve done.
Sally Hutton was only 14 years old. She didn’t have a chance to live on, to marry, have children, be with family. Her parents and sister all have passed, not knowing why or who took our loved one from us.
No, she isn’t forgotten, nor will she ever be, so long as family and friends are still living.
I guess in ways, we were lucky. At least her broken body was found. We got to bury her. Some families don’t have that, and my heart aches for them. And to go through these twice takes a lot out of a person.
My ex-sister-in-law’s son, Brian Trester, was murdered in Lyon County, and that death, too, remains unsolved. I have grandchildren who still cry over Brian, as well as my grown children.
Life does go on, but the hurt stays with us.
