Allen County Commissioner Tom Williams pulls no punches.
Tuesday morning during discussion of concealed carry of firearms in the courthouse, which would be legal July 1 and beyond if commissioners did nothing, Williams made a point to note that legislators thought it was fine and dandy to carry firearms into the courthouse, but wanted nothing of the sort in the Statehouse.
“Hypocritical,” Williams said of the legislators’ zeal to free Kansans to go about carrying guns, except where legislators congregate and might stir the ire of citizens come to argue passage of a bill.
No surprise. The batch of legislators we have in Topeka are nothing if not self-serving — or serving the interests of a handful of folks who will feed financially off the woes of education and poorer Kansans.
Election Day in November 2014 won’t come too soon.
