Our new city council has approved the development of a dog park on the half block of green space located at South State Street and Irwin Street. But this is contingent on public financial assistance of $10,000.
A pledge of $4,000 is in place and additional pledges of about $3,000 are anticipated, but they are contingent on some not-yet received income. The difference should not be difficult to make up, but it does depend on public participation.
One people-oriented person who realizes the importance of a public dog park has pledged to donate the income from a garage sale to the fund. This is an excellent method for the public to respond to this need.
Donations should be sent to Thrive Allen County, 12 W. Jackson, Iola, KS 66749 with a notation that the donation is designated to the Dog Park Fund. All donations that go through Thrive are tax deductible.
