Carlyle Presbyterian Church

Myrna Wildschuetz played “The Wayfaring Stranger” on the piano for the prelude and Rita Sanders played “The Church in the Wildwood” on the organ for offertory.

For special music, John Burton sang “The Lord Is My Shepherd.”

Pastor Steve Traw’s message, “Jesus and the Word,” was taken from Luke 4:1-13.

On Sept. 23, Mike Skidmore, treasurer of Agape Interfaith Ministries International, will share stories about overseas mission work.

Celebrating birthdays were Maude Burns on Monday, and Lydia Kallinen on Thursday.

The church fellowship dinner will follow the morning service on Sunday

Pastor Steve leads Bible Study at 3 p.m. Tuesday on the New Testament book of Acts.

Carlyle Country Club

The Carlyle Ladies Country Club met recently with Alice Dow-ell at Carlyle Fellowship Hall.

Attending were Naomi Chambers, Alice Dowell, Pauli Hawk, Joanne McIntyre, June O’Dell, Pat Shields, Joyce Sneed, Myrna Wildschuetz, Sharon Grisier, Joyce Bratsch, Jeanice Cress, Cheryl Klingensmith and special guest Deb Smail, who gave a program on “The Trials and Tribulations of a Beekeeper.”

Deb’s husband, Ron, owns and operates Deer Creek Honey Farm.

Hostess Alice Dow-ell provided a pint of honey for each member of the club.

Jeanice Cress will host the October meeting at Carlyle Fellowship Hall.
