I see the hospital board has flip-flopped on the site of the hospital. If the pungent aroma of bovine bother you, there are a number of land parcels large enough to accommodate a new hospital. What about the land by the college?
I personally don’t want to be sick and go outside for fresh air and smell diesel and oil fumes and be reminded that not only do I have a large hospital bill to look forward to when I get home but that I’m being price-gouged at the gas pumps.
That area will be noisy and that highway in that area is already congested badly. There is no room for other business expansion either.
And last, but not least, the cost of the land to me is prohibitive not only the acreage but the remediation of the land as well. That is my biggest issue right there. Money, some of us have it, most of us don’t.
I am very concerned about the economy as it is without worrying about the increase in taxes. We need to look at the overall picture here.
Fort Scott and Paola both have hospitals on the edge of their cities and they don’t seem to have a problem with it.
