Letter to the editor — July 16, 2011

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is fast approaching. This event provides us with the funding needed to do cutting-edge research; educate students, health care professionals and the public on the prevention and early detection of cancer; advocate for public policies that further the fight against cancer; and provide services for patients and families in our community.
This year’s event is slated for July 22 on the square. Now is the time for individuals, corporations, small businesses and community groups to commit to fighting back and sign up for the relay event.
Relay For Life is the perfect site for a company picnic or family gathering, all while supporting a great cause.
Approximately 150 people are diagnosed with cancer in the United States every hour. We want to  change that. We hope ALLEN COUNTY will join as we walk through the night to celebrate those who have battled and won, remember those we have lost and fight back against a disease that takes too much.
To learn how to form a team call (620) 363-0080 or visit RelayForLife.org.

Sincerely,
