Dear editor,
“Past it on.”
This phrase had real meaning for me this week.
A couple of days ago I was at the checkout counter of a local store and the manager could not get the printer to work.
When a long line behind me began to grow longer, I told her to void my receipt and I would get to the back of the line when we could start over.
Behind me was a young woman with a little girl who said, “I’ll pay for it.”
I looked at her and said, “No one has ever done that for me. I can’t let you do it.”
But she persisted, and against my disbelief and shock she paid my bill, saying to me “Pass it on.”
I want to thank her for her kindness and I will pass it on.
A couple of days before that, I had ordered something from a local merchant and he delivered it to my door.
“What do I owe you?” I asked.
“Not a thing,” he replied. “Just pass it on.”
I appreciate so much this experience, and again, I will “pass it on.”
Gratefully and humbly,
Sharon Boan,
