Dear editor,
I encourage citizens to vote NO on Tuesday, August 2, to keep our constitution as it is now and continue to protect a woman’s right to make the best healthcare decision possible for her body; including choosing abortion in cases of rape, incest, or circumstances of necessity to save the life of the mother.
No congress of legislators should dictate a woman’s health care or restrict women’s rights in order to garner votes from anti-abortion voters.
Even with a planned and desired pregnancy unexpected health issues can threaten a woman’s survival and make abortion the only life-saving option.
I’m old enough to know and remember that making abortions illegal won’t stop them from happening, but it will stop them from happening safely.
