Dear editor,
I would like to take this opportunity to “congratulate and thank” Mr. Chase Martin for his appointment to our City Council and for his service to our country. I wish him well on his journey into our world of small town politics and the associated rewards and grief that accompanies the job.
As one of those candidates for this position, I would like to take this time to express my gratitude to our Mayor, the Council, and our city manager for going the extra mile to make this process as transparent and without deception or question of any improprieties as is possible in this political atmosphere. Because of our current form of government it would have been completely within the authority of the Mayor to select anyone he chose as his replacement and appointed them without requiring Council approval or taking applications from the public.
