Dear editor,
As a home, business and property owner in Allen County and the City of Iola, I believe we have no choice but to vote for a new school for the children in our community.
Yes, it will raise our taxes, but if we do not invest in our community and upgrade our schools infrastructure, what will we have? A failed city.
If we do not invest in a new school or to help better our town, what would make a new citizen, business owner, or factory want to invest in our community?
Every time a house is condemned, a family moves, or a business closes, it is one step closer to a failed town.
Let us show our pride and support our town by cleaning up the neighborhoods and making it more inviting for new building opportunities or new homeowners.
Supporting our small-town businesses by shopping local, where the tax dollars stay in Allen County, and voting for the new elementary, the new science and technology building, and the upgrades to the HVAC at the middle school, are ways we can take our community forward.
As a lifetime resident of Iola, I will be voting yes in April on all three measures.
Please join me in voting yes as a way to invest in the future of not only our children, but also our community.
Steve Kinzle,
Iola, Kan.
