Letter to the editor — March 21, 2019

Dear editor,

This concerns the April 2 Day of Decision voting day. To any and all who feel that we need a new school: Yes, we need to think of our children. Yes, we need to think of their future. Yes, we need to think of what it will cost.

A bad location has been designated.

Yes, it will be near other town. Yes, it would be great for the city to have a brand new school in town.

Speaking of town, how many big industries do we have in Iola? No need to name them. But I could count them on my fingers how many we do have.

We have discussed the kids. Think for a moment about our adults and especially our senior adults.

I have lived in Iola for 20 years. Please think about all the senior adults. My wife and I are over 80 years of age.

If the vote is “yes,” to build a new school our taxes will certainly be raised.

When I go to the polls on the 2nd of April, my vote will be “no.” We live on Social Security and it goes pretty quick.

Please pray. Please vote no. Let’s repair what needs fixing in our schools.

David Hill,

Iola, Kan.
