Dear editor,
I would like to provide additional information to Saturday’s story about the history of Gas. In a picture shown at the program, it was my Uncle Oliver, my Grandmother Charlotte and my Dad, Arthur Kinman. It was in the Gas City telephone office. My grandmother and her daughter, Ida Belle, ran the telephone office. It was still a big city. In later years the city part was taken off, leaving Gas. My grandparents lived in Burlington. When my Grandfather Perry O. died, my grandmother, her three remaining children and her father-in-law came to Gas City in 1903 in a covered wagon.
Lavon Kinman Johnson,
Iola, Kan.
