Letter to the editor

Dear editor,

This is on behalf of the 25 people who at one time or another have participated in Iola Recreation Department’s senior-cise program since the flooding that made the Community Building unfit for use.

We want to thank those with the Allen County Country Club and the City of Gas for providing us with free space for the program.

We used the country club from October 2018 to April 2019 and a room in the Gas Community Center from April through October of this year.

Thankfully, the Iola Recreation Department has provided senior-cise for local senior citizens, at no charge, for the past 20 years or so. The Little Theater in the Community Building at Riverside Park is now repaired and classes resumed Monday, Oct. 21, at 9 a.m., five days a week.

Anyone may attend. Classes on Monday and Wednesday are the least strenuous. Most of the exercises are done either seated in a chair or standing with the aid of a chair, if needed. None require getting down on the floor.

The class welcomes any adult who wants to socialize, improve endurance, balance, brain function, muscle strength and tone. Participants should wear loose clothing and bring water to drink.

Sincerely,

Charlene Levans,

LaHarpe, Kan.
