Letter to the editor — December 17, 2015

Dear editor,
I have always felt sorry for the underdog in any situation.
Guess that is the reason I have felt sorry for President Obama. He inherited an economy in shambles, a never-ending war and a spiteful Congress whose Republican majority has vowed from Day One to do everything in its power to destroy him.
After the president’s speech on fighting terrorism all the wanna-be’s shouted he did not have a plan to defend us.
No one heard a plan come from any of them, because they didn’t have one.
One did spout off what he thought the people might want to hear. Who else but our one-man wind farm Donald Trump. If they could harness his wind they could light up New York City.
They make such a big fuss and spend so much money on the presidential election when it is really Congress we need to watch.
They are the tail that wags the dog.
We need term limits, but since that will never happen we need to vote them out.
The only one from Kansas worth keeping is Sen. Jerry Moran. He at least tries to do a good job.
The same with our legislators. Kent Thompson is a keeper. The rest need to be put out to pasture on 10 acres of short grass with a dry pond because that is where they are leaving our state.
Next election, get out and vote.
Maude Burns,
Iola, Kan.
