Letter to the editor — April 24, 2015

Dear editor:
I’ve made my phone call to Dana Daugharthy and volunteered to help with two track meets.
We could use your help.
On Thursday, May 14, Iola High School will host the Pioneer League Track Meet. Iola has hosted several regional  meets in the past eight years, and that involves athletes from 16 schools.
The Pioneer League meet will have fewer schools and not as many competitors, reducing the time involvement, but it does not reduce the number of workers needed.
The field events begin at 4 p.m., and the main officials will need to be on site by 3:45 to allow warm-up time for the athletes.
If you are able to help, call 228-3060 and tell Coach Daugharthy the event you would like to work.
The other meet, Monday, May 11, is a junior varsity meet, and  workers are needed for that one also, but the priority for adult workers will be the league meet. If you can help at each one, so much the better, so that you can hone your skills at the JV meet.
Marvin Smith,
(Dana’s biggest fan)
Iola, Kan.
