Letter to the editor – May 24, 2021

Dear editor,

I read with interest the position that this publication takes on the subject of abortion.  The subject was  highlighted by a guest editorial on May 18.

I shuttered reading the wording of the Los Angeles Times piece, “If the court lets states decide when a woman’s rights take a back seat to those of her fetus, that will all but obliterate Roe v. Wade.”

So in this day of “civil rights” am I to understand that an unborn baby is relegated to the back of the bus?

Also as alarming is the next statement, “In Mississippi and elsewhere, laws that make it difficult to get an abortion always end up disproportionately affecting women of color and lower-income women, who have a difficult time getting to a clinic and paying for an abortion.”

Where is BLM and the other civil rights groups? They are killing Black, Asian, Latino and other minorities’ unborn babies. Where is the outrage?

The latest available statistic I could find said there were 6,916 abortions in the State of Kansas in 2019. It is amazing we can track exactly how many people have Covid-19 and how many have died, by the day, but tracking the murder of unborn babies lags nearly twp years. The latest number says 5,053 have died by the virus. We stopped this whole country, this state and this county as well as the economy of each. The murder of unborn babies in the same time frame is more and we didn’t do anything.

Another civil rights issue with abortion is that the Caucasian population of the the State of Kansas is 86.3% and the minority races comprises 13.7%. Look at this, minorities account for 46.1% of abortions. Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, and her goal of eradication of the Black race appears to be working.
