Gov. Laura Kelly received word constituents weren’t keen on the design of the newly unveiled license plate.
But rather than take umbrage, the governor made light of the unpopular decision, saying, “I promised to be a bipartisan governor, and I think we can all admit I succeeded at bringing Kansans across the political aisle together in disliking this new license plate.”
Well done.
Especially for a decision that she most likely had little to do with.
The guidelines for the new plates stipulate the letters and numbers be black. Usually, the more simple the overall design the better, but in this most recent case the look was too stark, bordering on harsh.
How to capture the state’s essence on a license plate is no small feat.
But we’re glad the Governor is willing to wait until the perfect one comes along.
